![]() NewsConsortium Welcomes Six New MembersThe Chicago Wilderness consortium membership continues to expand not only in number but in scope, as regional initiatives such as Leave No Child Inside and the Green Infrastructure Vision have opened the door to new partnerships. The multiplicity of voices in Chicago Wilderness includes: 22 park districts, 21 members based in Indiana, 8 in Wisconsin, 3 faith-based organizations, 18 municipalities, 3 museums, 2 zoos, 5 homeowner associations, 1 retirement community, 9 federal agencies, and more than 25 corporations comprising the Chicago Wilderness Corporate Council. Chicago Wilderness also has a growing network of partnerships with organizations whose missions parallel that of the consortium, particularly in enhancing the quality of life of residents in the Chicago Wilderness region. The partners include: New Allies for Nature and Culture, REI, Consortium to Lower Obesity in Chicago Children, Vehe Farm Foundation, Hampshire Farms, and Advocate Health Care. The consortium is pleased to welcome the six newest members as of March 2008: The Biodiversity Project, Bolingbrook Park District, Bronzeville/Black Chicagoan Historical Society, Deerpath Farm Homeowners’ Association, Fermilab Natural Areas, and Wildwood Nature Center. Total membership of the consortium stands at 229.
